I have lived in the Eastern Bay of Plenty since 2004 and am passionate about seeing this area flourish and to promote it to the rest of New Zealand as the Paradise that I know it to be.
I became a marriage celebrant in 2018. I can safely say I have found my calling, standing in front of a crowd of people with a microphone in my hand. No wedding request is beyond my realm of crazy.
So far I have conducted weddings ranging from 4 guests to over a hundred guests.
Since early 2024 I have noticed there is a shift in more couples wanting an intimate, simple, no frills ceremony and only have their nearest and dearest present. Recently, I have added an extra ceremony type for couples that are wanting a simple ceremony but who want to celebrate it with all of their family and friends, this is the Micro ceremony.
You can find more information on my ceremonies here.
Whatever idea YOU have for YOUR wedding ceremony will be as exciting for me as it is for you.
I have come to realise that the celebrant is a very important element for your wedding day for a couple of reasons, the first being there will be no marriage without a celebrant and secondly, the celebrant can make or break the ceremony. You want a celebrant that has your best interests at heart and writes the ceremony to reflect who you are as a couple, and also to make your guests feel welcome and loved.
Since I started working as a Celebrant in 2018, I have come to realise how unique every ceremony is. I have conducted ceremonies on top of a hill, on a riverbank underneath a Pohutukawa tree at 8am, on the beach, in a backyard, on at boat anchored next to Whale Island and in a chapel. I loved performing every single ceremony. I'm excited to see where else this Celebrant job takes me.
I am based in Whakatane but I have also conducted weddings in Ohope, Kawerau, Opotiki and everywhere in between.
